About Us

Company Foundation

George Apsley and Tony Baliotis founded the company, hence G.T. Microwave, in 1995.  It's a merger between the engineering and manufacturing capabilities of George Apsley and a RF design consulting firm owned by Tony Baliotis.  From 1978, George had worked for 10 years as the Chief Engineer for KDI/Triangle. Coincidentally, Tony also worked at KDI/Triangle as the RF Design Manager.  Thereafter, George worked for Waveline Solid State as the Chief Engineer and Tony as an independent RF consultant for various high profile companies.  G.T. Microwave is a small, veteran-owned business incorporated in the state of New Jersey.

The European Union legislation entitled “Registration, and Authorization of Chemicals” – entered in to effect 0n June 1, 2007.  The REACH regulations require registration (with some exceptions) of every chemical substance imported into the European Union in quantities greater than 1000 kg.  The obligation to register the materials is on the individual or entity actually manufacturing or importing such material in Europe.

G.T. Microwave, Inc. has evaluated the products manufactured by our company regarding their status under Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals (REACH) when products are put on the market in the European Economic Area (EEA).  Section 2.1 of the ECHA guidance document (Requirements for Substances in Articles) defines an article as “an object which during production is given a special shape, surface or design which determines its function to a greater degree than its chemical composition”.  All of G.T. Microwave products are considered articles under this definition and have been found not to contain Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) as listed on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern at concentrations above 0.1% (w/w).

Section 4.1 of the guidance document covers substances in articles that are (a) intended to be released from articles during normal conditions of use, and (b) the total amount of the substance produced or imported in all articles exceeds 1 ton per year.  The articles manufactured by G.T. Microwave do not exceed these limits; therefore, do not require registration or notification. REACH regulations do not require G.T.
